Marple Runners Anniversary
"We Are 8!!"
On a cold evening in January 2016 a small group of about 30 runners attend the inaugural run of Marple Runners with a couple of Dale Road Loops. A short run but marked the birth of our running community. Not long after word got around, member numbers began to swell, stripey red & black tops were ordered and the first Spring Time Trial took place.
Winding forward 8 years, members come and go but today we're a UKA affiliated running club, a stalwart at many northwest running events from road races, trail races, and cross country to ultra endurance disciplines, active ambassadors for Marple and the surrounding areas, providing a safe space promoting fitness and wellbeing through running. Enduring the pandemic we crystalised our organisation activity and continue deliver weekly 5k, 10k on/off road group runs, coach lead training and technique sessions, all backed by a strong management team and social scene driving our sense of community... and we still ocassionally run Dale Road Loops.
Celebrating our 8 years on Wednesday 10th January 2024, a special club run is planned followied by food in The Railway plus a members bake sale to raise money for Steph Jones’s London marathon charity.
A date for your diary...All members and new runners welcome.
More details in New Year.

Rounders in the park & picnic -
19th August 2023
Your Social Team invite you to attend our Annual Rounders in the Park Picnic on Saturday, 19th August 2023 at Brabyns Park. Okay, we say it's annual but it's the first one, so we're optimistic you'll want a rematch.
The game will start at 2pm and will last for a couple of hours where you can re-live your past sporting prowess or have a hissy fit about your rubbish hand-eye cordination while trying to convince everyone how you used to be great at rounders in 1991.
Bring your own food, a chair or a blanket to sit on, some cloudy lemonade, and an old gramaphone if you like. Teams will be randomly selected on the day but you & your family (associate members) can just come along to spectate and enjoy the fun. Weather permitting.
Once the game is finished we will be retiring to the relative sanctuary of The Northumberland Arms to carry on partaking in various fizzy drinks.
Please complete the entry form so we can get an idea of interest. Come and join the fun!!!!
Any questions, please speak to Sarah or Andy.

Subs
Subs will restart on 2nd August. Non-members will again be welcome on all normal club runs from this time, paying higher subs than members. Coached sessions will be reserved for club members only.
There are no changes to the price of runs compared to pre-COVID-19, being £1 per run for a member and £2 per run for a non-member, however we are moving towards a cashless system, with subs being paid into the following bank account:
As this is a new system the Management Group would prefer that subs are paid per run, with your name
as the reference e.g. "L TAYLOR" so the account can be monitored against attendance at runs.
